The goal is to develop practical solutions for the legally secure and sustainable implementation of autonomous mobility—and to make Hamburg a blueprint for other regions in Europe. “With this format, unique in Europe, we offer a platform that brings together experts from law, politics, technology and business to actively shape the future of autonomous mobility,” says Heiko M. Stutzinger, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress. “We are creating a forum that connects technological excellence with crucial legal and regulatory questions. Only if we consider both aspects together, autonomous mobility will become a reality in Europe.”
The Autonomous Mobility & Law Summit is receiving strong support from Hamburg’s political leadership. Dr. Anjes Tjarks, Hamburg’s Senator for Transport and Mobility Transition, emphasizes the city’s special role: “With the Autonomous Mobility & Law Summit 2026, we are continuing Hamburg’s success story of international mobility congresses. For the first time, we are not only discussing technologies or visions, but the entire chain—from the vehicle to the legal framework up to operations in our cities. This once again positions Hamburg as a driving force behind the mobility transition in Europe.”
Harry Evers, co-initiator and internationally experienced organizer of mobility congresses, adds: “We provide an overview and present holistic solutions for the first time - from the vehicle to the control center to legally secure operational models for cities and transport companies. This creates a reference framework that can be transferred as best practice to other regions.”
The summit will feature an accompanying specialized exhibition and is the first European event to strategically and interdisciplinarily combine autonomous driving and legal frameworks. The topics covered range from technology and ethics to regulatory issues.
The Autonomous Mobility & Law Summit will premiere on April 14 and 15, 2026, at the CCH – Congress Center Hamburg.
